WHAT IS DIFFERENCE BETWEEN idmt and instentanous relay?
is idmt is used as back up protection or else?or when
instantenous relay saturates IDMT will operate???

IDMTL relay has inverse characteristic and the other is
instantaneous for very heavy faults.The former trips by disc
rotation ,and the latter by a lever placed near the
electro-magnet
