why we increase the small speed of turbine when alternator
just synchronized to grid in steam power plant
Answer Posted / ayush
consider grid as a load for time beiing nw if while a
sudden load is applied on alternator there will b large
drop in speed momentrily due to its synchronous behaviour
torque angle will increase to increase the devloped torque
to cope wth load torque suppose there was no little speed
increament in that case large load causes large hunting so
to avoid large oscilaation that r difficult to damp small
increase in speed of turbine is done so built required load
torque wthout loss of synchronism due to hunting even
though there will b oscillation but due to increase in
turbine speed r much less so can b easily damped by damper
windings.
