why should we have to maintain excess air in furnaces and
boilers while burning any fuel?

Answer Posted / anwar ashwak hussain

if we supply theoretical air it is not sufficient to
perform complete combustion. incomplete combustion leads to
co, so, NO formation which are hazardous to environment and
we also loose co which can be used as fuel. if we supply
higher or lower amount of excess air leads to decrease in
furnace efficiency. so we should optimize the excess air
where furnace efficiency is high.
