what is the difference between samba and ftp server in linux?
please mention as many as differneces?
Answer Posted / prasanna
one major difference is , in ftp the directory or file is to be known by the user
while as in samba, only the share name will be known, but not the actual path or file or folder
downloading the file or folder with ftp is fast when compared with samba
we cannot restrict the samba service in tcp wrappers
in case of downloading the content from internet web pages,
ftp is used. because it is very easy to handle and rectify the errors.
