In a class of 40 students, 24 students speak Hindi and 20
students speak Kannada. Eight students speak none of the two
languages. How many students speak both Hindi and Kannada?

let A student can speak english
b student can speak kanada.
now there are 40 students out of which 8 cant speak any of
two languages .So students remaing are 40-8=32
so students can speak both languages are
(AUB)=A+B-(A intersection B)
=24+20-32
=12
