Why Power generation in India is at 50Hz while in America
its 60Hz so is there any advantage/Disadvantage of this ??

Answer Posted / shah alam

we all know that the power generation in India is at 220v at frequency 50hz but in America it is 110v at frequency 60hz,the main reason behind this is that the impedance of inductor increases with frequency and that of capacitor decreases.if we find over all impedance of the combination of inductor,capacitor and resister we can see that the current supply would increase with a little decrease of frequency.the formula for current calculation is given as..
i= v/(r^2+(wL-1/wC)^2).
where,
w=2*pi*f.

Sir, My doubt on cable sizing calculation, Load:74 KW calculated cable 1 run 50mm2. Now client asking us to reduce cable size by increasing runs. Sir, My question now when my mind strikes with 2 options 1) Divide load 74/2 = 36 and calculate cable for 36+36 making it 2 runs or 2) Simply i can divide 50mm2 /2 ie. 2 runs of 25mm2 Please suggest me sir

Is a contactor (or master relay) required between incoming lines and a VFD? The question goes to safety. If a contactor were used before the VFD and an e-stop engaged then the motor will coast to a stop (i.e. VFD loses power) instead of stopping much faster if the VFD braking fucntion were used. It would make more sense to keep power on the VFD.
