what are iron and copper losses

Answer Posted / rajneesh upadhyay

in transformer there is no moving part so there is only
iron loss
copper loss
stray loss
iron loss :can be categorise in two part
hysteresis loss & eddy current loss
hys lossis due magnetizing and demagnetizing effect of core
due to ac current . because core is not completely
demagnetize in one half cycle of current some current is
used for demagnetize is this loss ocurr
eddy current loss is due to loop of magnetic line in iron
portion of transformer which should not in core this can
minimzed using thin lamination of core and si content of
core
cu loss is due to resistance of cu portion in windind
