what is sdh,pdh?how exactly the call get connected?

SDH :-synchronous digital hiearchy,in which a master clock
regulates all the information that may or may not be at
same rate,rate is maintained to be in the multiples of
64kbps.
PDH :- Pelisochronous digital hiearchy,it is predecessor of
SDH,it is nearly synchronous.in this maintaining data rate
to be 64kbps was difficult due to diffrent clock pulses.
