In Material Master Record we maintain General Item Category
Group and Item Category Group, whats the difference

The Material master contains the field item category group
twice .A general item category group and an item category
group only because you need to specify it for inbound
deliveries by general item category which does not refer to
sales org and dist channel and other item category is used
to determine sales order item for eg outbound delivery.
The fields are mentioned in Material Master (MM03) salesorg2
view.
