When should one use an MD-database (multi-dimensional
database) and not a relational one?

The MD Database is used when there is a many to many
relationships in the dimensions.

For example : There are dimensions related to Customer key
and service location key.
Now one customer can shop in different service locations
and it may happen that one service location is beinbg used
by many customers to shop.
