why the second and third row transition metal containing d8
configuration, always fonming square planar complexes
Answer Posted / arul_kashmir
when compared to first row transition metal the second and
third row metals are having higher crystal field
stabilization energy,if the metan containing higher CFSE
means they always form low spin complexes,so the metal
orbitals lie on the axis of the ligans ... so only it forms
square planar complexes(square planar orbitals are in th
axis)
