Why water is not directly added to sulphuric acid for
dilution?
Answer Posted / dinesh patil
Sulphuric acid has hydroscopic (Affinity towards water)
property. When we add water to acid due to hydroscopic
property it may suddenly comes out & may cause burning.
While mixing water & sulphuric acid we should always add
acid in water (with glass rod) & not to add water in acid.
Heat is genrated called as heat of neuterization which has
no relation with the addition
