What is mean by vector group? For what purposes we doing
vector group test in transformers?
Answer Posted / satya dev
In the 3 phase AC systems all the phases are having Phase
displacement called electrical Angle. In the case of
transformers the windings are connnected in special Faison
called Vector group. DY11, DYn11 are the vector gruops
which are generally used in India.Testing of vector group
is only to test the electrical of Connected Phases in the
Transformers.

Does outdoor isolator loose connection cause short circuit current in that circuit? if yes then how ??
Practical condition in 400KV Sub station:- Breaker(open) , isolator(open), Earthing (close) at both end e.g A & B. Now Open A Stn Earthing than Open B stn Earthing (Which have a 50MVA reactor) , AND suddenly show R,Y,B phase 704KV,573KV,118KV respectively. Que is without closing of breaker how it is possible.???? I have a drawing of a wound rotor induction motor for a crane. This crane motor has 5 forward speeds & 5 reverse speed implemented of course with different amount of resistance for each speed setting selected. What has got me scratching around is the fact that 8 of the 10 speed selections switch in uneven (unbalanced) amounts of resistances on each of the 3 connections to the motor's rotor. Can this be possible? I would have assumed this would produce unbalanced rotor currents and therefore vibration in the motor. I would greatly appreciate anyone's comments on this. Many thanks, Confused.
