in india ac frequency is 50hz, but in foreign countries it
is 60hz,whwt is the reason

I think the climate has a major role to play while deciding
the frequency of transmission.In temperate climates you wont
prefer Over Head Transmission of power due to frequent
damages to power system equipments due to climate.So UG
Transmission through cables is preferred.Now in cables the
loss due to capacitive reactance(given by Xc =
1/(2*3.14*Freq*Cap) has to kept low.By increasing the
frequency we can reduce the loss due to reactance.May be
this could be one of the factors.
