Column selection depends on
1.HPLC Method adopted whether Normal phase or reverse phase.
2.Number of components present in the sample. if more
components present instead of short columns long columns
must be used.
3.The functional group present in the analyte.
Based on the functional group present we can use either
Amino,Cyano,Carbohydrate etc. columns.
4.Polarity of the components
eg. If a sample contains nonpolar components instead of
C18 column we can use C8 column or C4 columns.
