in distribution cycle $ amounts are carried to the target
cost object thru the original cost elements.
so you can trace back the CE from the target CO Object
also. (lower system performance)

in assessment cycle; the TOTAL $ amounth for the cycle
segment carried to the target CO Object thru and
assessement cycle cost element (type 42) so you cannot
trace back the CE from the target CO object..(higher system
performance)
