What is the operating range of voltage and current in grid
supply in India?
Answer Posted / sunil guru
It depends on the transmission distance----and on that it is
classified as H.V,E.H.V,U.H.V...
for H.V the transmission voltage is upto 440KV
for E.H.V it is upto 750KV
and for ultra high voltage it is above 750KV upto 1200KV...
but in India HIGH VOLTAGE IS MUCH PREFERRED DUE TO OUR
CLIMATIC CONDITION,TRANSMISSION DISTANCE AND REQUIREMENT..
AND ONLY FOR FEW CASES E.H.V X'MISSION IS PREFERRED AND U.H.V
is yet to come.....

For a 6.6kV Motor it is recommended to do megger test with 500 V d.c and not more than 5kV d.c but the Hi voltage withstand test should be performed by 12kV AC. Why the dc voltage test should be limited but AC voltage withstand test could be with such a high voltage?
