suppose that there is a gas turbine of 110MW having 3
stages, and compressor having 17 stages. what will happend
when the stages of turbine increses to 6.
Answer Posted / ronak pujara
according to me, increasing the stages of turbine, keeping the pressure drop across the whole turbine same, pressure drop across each stage will reduce which will reduce the stage efficiency or blade efficiency of the turbine...hence chances of corrosion of the blades and pitting will increase...the size of the turbine also increases in turn...hence no of stages are decided on the basis of stage efficiency and pressure drop across each stage required...
