Geometrical Isomerism occurs in Alkenes only but not in
Alkanes and Alkynes.
Why?
Answer Posted / sana hasan
The geometrical isomers in alkene is due to the restricted
or hindered rotation about carbob carbon double bond
present in them.
The double bond between 2 carbon atoms consist of one sigma
bond(formed by sp2-sp2overlap) along the internuclear axis
and a pie bond formed by sidewise overlap of two
unhybridised p-orbital lying above and below the plane of
sigma bond.
