the origin of the stock exchanges in India can be traced back to the later half of 19 century. after the civil war (1860-61) due to the share mania of the pubic the no.of broker dealing in shares increased. the brokers organised an formal associaton in mumbai named"the native stock and share brokers association"in 1875.
