vtp(vlan trunking protocol)
1] vtp is l2 messaging protocol that maintain vlan configuration consistency by managing to addition,delection and name change of vlan's across a network
2] vtp minimizes misconfiguration and configuration inconsistencies
3] vtp information is sent between switches only via a trunk port
three requirments for a vtp to communicate vlan information between switches
*vtp management domain name of both switches must be set the same
*one of the switches has to be configured in server mode
*no router is necessary
three vtp modes is,
server,client,transparent
