a certain no of bullets were shared by 3 ppl equally.each of
them fired 4 of the bullets and the sum of the remaining
bullets are equal to the initial share each had got.what was
the initial number of bullets?

Let the initial number of bullets be 'a'
then by question each got a/3 bullets as share
when 4 bullets fired means each had (a/3)-4
by question when 3 ppl added it comes 3{(a/3)-4}
and again by question this is equal to a/3 initial
share
by solving a/3=3{(a/3)-4}
we have a/3= (3a/3)-12
or, 12= a-(a/3) by shifting sides
or, 12= 2a/3
or, 36= 2a by cross multiplication
or, 18=a
Thus the initial number of bullet was 18
