what is the difference between sports and games?

Answer Posted / nisha

Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules or
customs and often engaged in competitively.whereas game is
a structured activity, usually undertaken for enjoyment and
sometimes used as an educational tool. ALL sports are Games
but not all Games are sports. To qualify as a SPORT , there
must be the potential of being killed or PERMANENTLY
disabled while doing it. This potential for injury must be
a integral part of the game also. Therefore Golf is NOT a
sport!! (sorry lightning doesnt count as it is not part of
the game) sports differi from games based on the fact that
there are usually higher levels of organization and profit
(not always monetary) involved in sports. Accurate records
are kept and updated for most sports at the highest levels,
while failures and accomplishments are widely announced in
sport news.. While SOME games require athletic ability, ALL
SPORTS require athletic ability. Hope this clears it up for
everyone. And BTW NO, Tiger woods is NOT an athlete...he's
a golferSports has always been about pushing the limits of
whats has been done in the past. The objective is about
improvement. On the other hand the main objective of a game
is just to defeat an opponent in a match. Now a days, it
has become, a respectable alternative to a fight or a duel
where stakes were as high as loosing someones life just for
the sake of winning. In the earlier days people did loose
their life whilst striving to win a game or the loosers
lost their lives for the punishment of failure. Two totally
different attitudes. Sports require athletic ability,
competion and physical exertion. Games are also competive
in nature and may have quite a following or an elaborate
association running them, but there is mild physical
exertion and people with limited athletic ability can hold
their own.
