It is simply because we are concerned mainly with real power
generated/supplied to load.
Real power is the only power that can be dissipated as heat or
can be converted into other usable form. This is not poosible
with reactive power.
Recative power only oscillate within the power system. It can
neither be used for any conversion into usable form nor be
dissipated as heat.
