What is fuel oil viscosity, specific gravity?

Answer Posted / karthick

viscosity is defined as the resistance offered by a fluid
to flow.whenever a fluid is subjected to shear stress it
cannot resist that shear so the fluid will start flow.so if
the fluid is more viscous it resists the shear applied

specific gravity is also termed as relative density.it is
defined as the ratio of density of a substance to density
of a std fluid.we can take water as the std fluid and its
density is 1000 kg/m^3

so if the sp.gravity is less than one then the substance is
less dense than water and it will float in water on the
other hand if sp.gravity is greater than one then the
substance will immerse in water
