what is the difference between the diode and the rectifier

if you want to rectify one phase then you can use diode as
it has one input one output.
But if you want to rectify three phase input you got to use
rectifier as it has 3 inputs 3 outputs.
as seen in rectification process they are the same.

why would the rotor rotate at sub synchronous speed against the direction of rotating flux when d rotor of 3 phase IM is connected to 3 phase balanced supply and the stator windings are shortcircuited ??
