it is not specified in the relevant code (IS:383) about
silt content, instead it is said that the particles finer than
75 micron.it should not be more than 3% in natural or
uncrushed sand whwre as in crushed sand it is allowed upto 15%.
the gravity of the sand varies from 2.6 to 2.8.generally taken
as 2.65.
water absorption capacity of the sand varies between 0.5 and 1%.
the minimum crushing strength of sand or aggregate should be
80 N/mm^2.
