When batteries are connected in series the voltage increases
but the current remains unchanged, how can this be?
When you consider ohm's law. i.e.
If voltage increases, current increases, providing
resistance remains the same.

When batteries are connected in seires then actually
capacity increase due to increased plates area. Simply
capacity is directly propotional to the plate area so
capacity in terms of discharging time. So series connected
bettery gives more discharging time but voltage current
ratings remains same.
