WHY IS THE NO LOAD CURRENT SMALL FOR A TRANSFORMER COMPARED TO OTHER ROTATING ELECTRICAL MACHINES??
Answer Posted / mahavir jagdev
In any rotating electrical machine, for it to rotate, there has to be a slip (between the stator and the rotor) to create torque for rotation, hence even if there is no load, the no load current will be higher (to create this torque) than the transformer which will have only eddy currents and magnetic field losses.
