what is conductor?
what is insulators?
what is semi condutors?
Answer Posted / shivram meena
in conductor valence band and conduction band are
overlapping, there is no energy gap in between.
while in insulator conduction band and valence band have
energy gap >5ev. so it does not allow flow of electrons b/w
bands an does to lack of free electron it does not conduct
electricity and heat.
and semiconductor have energy gap less then insulator but
more then conductor.so by small amount of thermal energy
free electrons can be generated.
so semiconductor's resistance is decrease as increase in
temperature while R increase in conductor with temp.
