What file defines the levels of messages written to system

/etc/syslog.conf is the file which defines the levels of
messages written to system log files.
The levels are :-
0 -> Emerg
1 -> Alert
2 -> CRIT
3 -> ERROR
4 -> WARNING
5 -> NOTICE
6 -> INFO
7 -> DEBUG

********NOTE :- The Order is from bottom to up . ********
