Cast iron is an alloys which contain more than 2 % Carbon. there are two types of cast iron. one is grey cast iron and other is spheroidal graphite iron of ductile iron which is treated with Magnesium with grey cast iron.
carbon: more than 2%
Si: 1.8-2.3%
Mn:0.5-0.8% max
P:max 0,01%
S:<0.02%
Cu: can be less than 1%
