what are active and Passive Components?
Answer Posted / rizwan ahmad tahir
The Active Components are those components which cannot
perform their basic function(for which they are made)without
external energy(electrical or other). Basically they need
external voltage for their activation. For Example
(1).Transistor cannot perform its operation without biasing
(2).Micro controller cannot work without Vcc
(3).LDR cannot perform its basic operation without light.
Similarly Thermistor, different ICs etc. are active components.
Passive components required no external energy to perform
their operation in other words they connected as it is in
the circuit and they perform their specific operation.
Examples: Capacitor,Diodes,inductors,resistors etc.
