why is the core of the underground cable is spiral in shape
instead of straight?
Answer Posted / ashok bhatnagar
The spiraling is done to transpose the three phase current
carrying conductors. This results in near zero net magnetic
field produced by the cable. This is required to minimise
electrical interference to other naerby cables.
