Why is the earth socket in an electrical plug outlet made
thicker and lenghty?
Answer Posted / tom hanks
Generally, to protect the socket from unwanted entries
(child finger or 2 plug entries without earth) all 3 holes
are closed from inside, to open it first earth Plug has to
insert with force which will open bottom holes too, thats
why Earth plugs are often lengthy and thicker.
