What is the difference between Rectifier & Converter?

Dear All,
Pls avoid both the answers given above. the correct answer
is :
Rectifier converts AC to DC
Convertor converts AC to Variable DC.
This means Rectifier uses diodes which converts whatever AC
is fed at the input to the DC
Converters uses SCR ( sometime along with diodes )which are
fired accordingly and variable DC is generated by phase
control mechanism
