what is the working principal of diode
Answer Posted / anum ahmed pirkani
p region has holes as majority charge carriers and n region has electrons as majority charge carriers
in case of forward biasing when the potential of battery is greater then that of depletion region, the positive end of battery repels the holes of p-region and negetive end of battery repels the electrons of n-region this thereby decreases the width of depletion region thereby allowing more current to pass.
in case of reverse biasing, the negetive end of battery attracts the holes of p-region and the positive end of battery attracts the electrons of n-region. in this way, the majority charge carriers of both regions are attracted to the battery thereby increasing the width of depletion region and offers more and more resistance to the flow of current as voltage increases and ultimately breaks down the diode.
