How to use a insulation resistance tester on a three phase
electric motor?
Answer Posted / pswin
The purpose of insulation resistance tester is to test the condition of insulation. On three phase motors, we need to do the insulation test between winding to windings and windings to ground. Before the testing, we need to take out the connections(star or delta). Choose 500 V scale on meter and proceed to test.Full scale will be 100 Mega Ohm. Minimum will be 0.5 Mega Ohm and if lower than this result, motor cannot be used.
