single phase motors are not self starting as stated. hence
they are fitted with starting device like capacitors,
inductors,shaded pole etc. the capacitors are provided to
split the single phase in to two phases with an angle of
about 90 degrees. if we can use two phases without the
capacitor the motor can be used, provided the motor winding
is rated for 440 volts or line to line voltage

At the starting of dc motor and syn.motor and induction motor high current flowing through the winding. Due to this the windings burnt out. To avoid this different types of starters are used. But incase of transformer what Will be used (At starting no emf is induced in the primary winding)?
