Hi prajal,

I just wanted u to c the difference between other
government jobs and NIC.NIC is the IT arm of the government
and it works entirely differnt...u cannot find any
difference in the work in any pvt organisation and NIC.the
only difference is the pay package...but i can say that its
better in NIC because the joining package is 26000 whereas
in pvt firms u will get 20k to 25k and then u will get a
sure promotion in 3 years whereas in pvt firms u may get
annual appraisal but they completely depend on the market
position and when market is at its best companies like
IBM,INFY give a salary hike of 30000 per annum which will
add a max of 2 or 3 thousand in salary per
month....companies like SATYAM were giving a good hike of
80k to 1 lakh but it is now no longer in such
position.....i agree that the market will grow again and
the IT industry will develop again...but then also at the
peak position u will get 30000 hike ( MAX)....so take
picture after 3 years....u will get a promotion in NIC or u
will stay in the same designation in other firms and get
26000 sal after 2 hikes which is also not guranteed......

Coming to work environment dont under estimate NIC...it is
the oldest IT industry in INDIA which started 4 decades
back....it only hires the best techies and gives them wide
oppurtunities from research and analysis to support and
development.So no doubt u will never become like
the "BABUS" working in other govt organisation....u have
lots of work and if u r energetic then u can reach the apex
of IT industry.....remember APJ abdul kalam, Kiran karnik
and many others had worked in various government institutes
and now they are helping pvt firms to reorganise
themselves.......
