How would you assess and treat a 52year old woman who
complains of heavy prolonged menstrual bleeding?

Ablation can be performed in a day surgery setting with
your OBGYN. You will require anesthesia. Many insurance
companies are not quick to pay for this, however with
proper documentation over several months, your MD can file
it in a way that showes your need for surgical
intervention. This procedure scars your uterus, so the
liklihood you can ever carry a conception to delivery is
minimal. It has been used often to treat prolonged, heavy
menstration with positive results. This is of course,
after you and your MD have ruled out any pathological
causes.
