When a new defect is logged, what setting should be used to
configure QC to send an auto generated mail to the
concerned developer?

Based on my 2 years of experience as QC Admin, we set auto
configure email Status to : "Open" or "Reopen" or "Closed"
and Assigned to field ".." .And when a new defect is in
"Open" status an email would be generated to the developer
