Shall we get electrical shock if we touch the positive
terminal of a 230 volt dc supply?
Answer Posted / michael pardee
It depends entirely on what else you touch at the same
time. If the other side of the 230V supply is grounded
(earthed) and you are touching something that is connected
to the same place, you will get a very big jolt (I have
done that with 300 volts DC!) If the other side is not
grounded (as is true in hybrid cars like the Toyota Prius)
you would have to contact whatever is connected to the
other side to receive the shock, and in ungrounded systems
those are often well protected.
