What is the meaning of CT 40/5, 100/5 or in HT lines
100/1 ????????

ya
this is sripellirajukumar
the meaning CT 40/5,100/5,or 110/1 is as follows
HT lines and also any other transmission lines will be
operated with high current ratings..like
100,200,....depends on the requirement of the load..
so we can not measure those high currents directly with low
range ammeters..
so we can use current transformers (CT)in series with the
lines of having high current carrying capacity to measure
the high currents..
CT 100/5 means we can measure 100 amps current by using low
range 5amps ammeter..i.e..here current transformer is acts
as step up transfomer so the current will be less at the
secondary terminals...
that means primary of the ct is connected in series with
the operating line and the secondary of the CT is connected
to the low range ammeter..in CT s turns ratios will be
there...so we can measure high currents very easily with
those CT turns ratio settings...
and above procedure is also same for 40/5,100/1....
thank you.....
