what is difference between Sanity testing and Smoke testing?

Smoke testing is basically perform to asure software is
stable enough to consider it for further testing.It is
shallow & wide as we navigate through all options of
application without going into much deep.In this we are
more concern about major functions without much bothering
about minor ones.e.g.It is more useful in configuration
(hardware) testing.
Sanity testing is cursory testing.When new build is
released from development team with minor changes, in this
case instead of performing through regression testing
sanity testing is more appropriate to ascertain indeed
rectifications are done.It is narrow & deep.It is subset of
regression testing.

In cycle 1 we have 100 test cases out of which 95 test cases are PASS and 5 test cases are FAIL. So in cycle 2 how many test cases performed as a part of regression testing?

Hello. I am not here to answer your question. I jus found a job as software QA engr. And i am totally new to software testing. So can someone pls help me in the following scenario? there is this registration screen, and it contain: One textbox called Nickname which only accept alphanumerical One textbox called Contact which only accept numerical, One textbox called Email which can be filled with alphanumerical and symbol and One button called Register now becos there is so many textboxes, where i can filled with alphabet, number, symbol, "just space", leading zeros, leading space. there will be lots of combination. can someone pls help.. i will be appreciated if u can post the test case of the scenario i mentioned.
