difference between steam hammering and water hammering
Answer Posted / subhransh shekhar
Initially, the steam line is in ambient temp condition.when it is suddenly charged then some portion of the line remains cool in comparison to the other.due to nonuniform heating.in the cooler area condensate ball foRmed and vacuum is created.and all the molecules rushed towards that particular area.and hammering created. water hammer-this is caused due to the impact caused by suddenly closing and opening the valve in a flowing fluid line.
