In case of a beam ,main steel is provided along the longer
span because, bending moment is directly proportional to
length but why in case of one way slab main steel is
provided along shorter span while as bending takes place
along longer span?comment

in case of beam b.m takes place along the lenth so main bar
is provided in tat direction to resist b.m.but in case of
one way slab the bm along longer direction is too low as
compared to shorter direction so resisting this bm
distribution bar is enough.so main bar is provided in
shorter direction and also l/b ratio is greater than 2.
