Na its electronic configuration is 2,8,1.becoz only one
electron is present in its outer most shell ,it can easily
give this electron to form Na positive ion i.e it is an
electropositive. electropositive element can easily react
with electronegative element example oxygen . so due to the
presence of one electron in its outer most shell it is very
reactive metal.it easily react with oxygen present in air
as well as present in water and oxidise.it does not react
with kerosene oil becoz it is a hydrocarbon made up of
carbon and hydrogen . carbon and hydrogen both are
electropositive not electronegative.
