explain Tides

Answer Posted / guest

Tides:- It is the alternating rise and fall of the surface
of the sea (approximately twice a day) caused by the
gravitational attracting pull of the moon and also to a
lesser degree of the sun. The rising water is called the
flood tide and the falling water is called the ebb tide. The
tides caused on the full nights ate higher than those caused
in other nights, and the tides in the mid-nights are also
higher than the day time.

There are two types of tides:-
(i) Spring tide:- On the full moon day the sun and the moon
move in a line in the same direction; their combined fore of
attraction causes a very high tide rather than on any other
day. This tide ie called the Spring tide
(ii) Neap tide:- On the say when moon comes in a position at
right angled to the sun, a bit higher tide occur which os
called the Neap tide
