Certain substance which are added to the soil, which fulfill
the food requirements of plants are known as manures, or
fertilizers.
(a)Animal Manure:-It consists of all types of animal waste
e.g. bock, bones, horns and hoofs leather waste sewage
sludge etc..
(b)Plant Manure:-This is obtained from plant kingdom e.g.
decayed plants, cotton seed meal, wood to tobacco stem ashes
etc..
(c)Artificial manure or chemical manure:-E.g. calcium
cynamide, superphosphate of lime, potassium nitrate etc..
Any compound containing N, P or K cannot be used as fertilizer
Essential requisities of good fertilizers are(a) The
elements like sodium phosphorus or potassium present in it
is must be readily available to the plant
(b)It should be soluble in water
(c)It must also be stable
